Metal Exiles' Jessica Bohatch-Easton has issued an interview with KORPIKLAANI bassist Jarkko Aaltonen. The following is an excerpt:

Q: Your band was formed out of the remains of Shaman, where the lyrics were written and sung in Samic. Why the transition to Finnish and how did your fans react to this and how did they react to the change in the style of music?

A: "There never really was any SHAMAN remains. Shaman was alive and well and recording their third album when ex-ANGRA members formed another band with the same name and forced us to change our name. So the first Korpiklaani album was actually the third Shaman album and the lyrical and musical change was already happening with Shaman and isn't connected with the name change. The first two Korpiklaani albums were mostly in English since Jonne felt it was at that time more suitable for the new music than the previous Sami. We know that there are still some people who think that moving away from Sami was a bad move but you can never satisfy everyone."
