BW&BK; has received the following press releas from Mascot Records USA:
The Great Don Airey releases a masterpiece on Mascot Records U.S.A. A Light In The Sky, Airey’s first solo album in almost 20 years, is a true brilliant work of art. Playing with a cast of virtuoso’s, A Light In The Sky is a combination of styles – classic rock, prog, metal with splashes of jazz. As the composer, Airey left a lot of room for the guest artists to feel natural in playing.
The master player joining Airey are Laurence Cottle (bass), Chris Childs (bass), Darrin Mooney (drums), Harry James (drums & vocals), Rob Harris (guitar), Lidia Baich (violin), Danny Bowes (vocals), Carl Sentence (Vocals), and of course the brilliant Don Airey (1965 Hammond A100 through 2 Leslie 147’s, Yamaha Grand piano, Clavier Nord G2 and the list goes on….)
Airey’s career spans professionally from 1974 when he joined Cozy Powell to the famous chords that start the timeless metal song ‘Mr. Crowley’ with Ozzy Osbourne to becoming the keyboardist in the rock band DEEP PURPLE since 2002, succeeding Jon Lord.
Prior to his current role in Deep Purple, Airey has held court with the best of the best, playing with such acts as Gary Moore, Ozzy Osbourne, JUDAS PRIEST, BLACK SABBATH, JETHRO TULL, WHITESNAKE, COLOSSEUM II, SINNER, Michael Schenker, Uli Jon Roth, RAINBOW, Divlje jagode and LIVING LOUD. He has also worked with Andrew Lloyd Webber.
A Light In The Sky keeps time between the days of big guitars and arena rock to the edginess of brilliant instrumental arrangements. This is must have album in your collection.
