NEVERMORE frontman Warrel Dane is featured in a new interview with Antenna.nu, where he discusses the band’s new live DVD / CD, The Year Of The Voyager. An excerpt appears below.

Q: First off all, why this particular show from Bochum in Gemany?

Dane: (laughs) "I think it might have been easier, because our record company is based here, Bochum is very nearby and we were using a German company called ROAX, which produces very good stuff for DVDs. The outcome is so good, and I’m very pleased with the final DVD. We just had a great night, that night, the crowd was awesome and seriously, it was one of the best show the band has ever played. It was scary at first because we knew we would only have one chance, and you know, sometimes bands film multiple shows if anything should go wrong but we were really lucky and did this one major shoot at the show in Bochum, and it really turned out well, we’re so happy with it!"

Q: There’s quite an artistic expression on the DVD, with the black and white parts combined with the colourized scenes and it made me wonder: How much of an influence did you guys have on the final product with regard to the production of it?

Dane: "Well, we had some input but we just wanted to leave it up to these guys, to express themselves artistically as well and it worked out pretty good, I think. We were not quite sure what they would do but all the small things, the effects and stuff, I think it turned out very well, adding that extra unique thing that most live DVDs don’t have. I find it really cool and a pleasure to the eye, due to the changing of colours. The only thing was we couldn’t get rid of that damn disco ball!"
