AC/DC Singer BRIAN JOHNSON’s 1965 Lola T70 Mk1 Up For Sale
July 14, 2016, 8 years ago
This auction manages to combine a piece of automotive history with a rock and roll legacy. It’s a 1965 Lola T70 Mk1 that once belonged to Brian Johnson, lead singer of the band AC/DC.
This is a rare car without the rock and roll history, so it’s truly something unique for the right collector. Under the hood is a small-block Ford engine that produces a whopping 640 horsepower. That number is all the more impressive when you find out that the car comes in at only 1,500 pounds.

Brian Johnson will host a new series on Planet Rock. The online radio station has Alice Cooper and Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott on their roster and Johnson will host the program The Producers.
The weekly show sees Brian exploring the lives of some of the world’s most renowned rock producers including Queen’s Roy Thomas Baker, Metallica’s Bob Rock and Foo Fighters’ Nick Rasculiecz. Listeners can hear exclusive insights from the men who have mixed their magic to bring rock’s biggest albums to life, from the tracks they love, to the anecdotes from their time sharing the studio with the bands they’ve worked so closely with.
“Having been fortunate to work alongside some of the best producers in rock, it’s great to be part of this show with Planet Rock,” said Brian, originally from Dunston, Gateshead.
“To be able to shine a light on how a producer captures a moment in the studio and turns it into rock and roll dynamite, is great.
“Being able to listen to these guys talk about what they do best is a joy. Planet Rock is the authority for all things rock so, where else would one want to be for this kind of show?”
Having recorded some of the most globally successful rock albums of all-time alongside the world’s greatest sound-men, Brian was the perfect choice to present The Producers for Planet Rock.
Ric Blaxill, Content Director of Planet Rock, said: “The quality of rock producers that we interviewed required a series host with rock credibility and an in depth understanding of how producers work with bands to create a distinct sound.
“Brian is without doubt the perfect person to host the series with his incredible experience as a musician and as one of rocks’ most distinctive vocalists ever. We are very honoured to have Brian joining Planet Rock for this landmark series.”
Listeners can hear The Producers at Planet Rock and new episodes on Sundays at 7 PM.
