AEROSMITH Frontman STEVE TYLER Discusses Going Country - “I Love To Take The Fucking Power To Wow To The 100th Degree... It's Just What I Do”

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler discusses his new country career.

Q: What's the difference between rock and country at this point?

A: “Country songs really spell out what's on a guy's mind in no uncertain terms. Rock & roll can be a little more aloof. But country is changing. Jaren Johnston and the Cadillac Three and Florida Georgia Line are proving that you can go any which way. Modern country might add a little a cappella or raps or heavier beats. God knows Brad Paisley plays guitar like a motherfucker. I think country is the new rock & roll — everyone is trying to stretch out.”

Q: How do the guys in Aerosmith feel about what you're doing?

A: “I’m sure they're not happy. But Joe [Perry] has done five solo albums. I just thought, "Hey, it's my turn in the barrel." This is a side project, which has now turned into a love of life. I think we got something here that the radio would love to play. Look, that's why I'm in it. I love to take the fucking power to wow to the 100th degree. It's just what I do.”

Tyler’s debut country single “Love Is Your Name” recently entered Billboard’s Country Airplay Charts at #33. The song was aided by hourly plays on participating iHeartMedia stations in its first day of release (May 13th); Tyler also performed the track that night on the season finale of Fox's American Idol.

Tyler recently signed to Dot Records underneath the Big Machine Label Group umbrella (Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw), and released the "Love Is Your Name” single across multiple media properties.

"Love Is Your Name" is the first single off Tyler's highly anticipated debut solo album. The song was produced by Dann Huff and recorded in Nashville at Blackbird studios. Tyler has been residing in Nashville since January where he has been hanging out and collaborating with some of Music Row's finest singers and songwriters.

"I picked up and headed for Tennessee, and the FIRST DAY in the studio, I recorded a song that became my first single, and if 'Love Is Your Name', then Nashville's my new girlfriend. I guess you could call that Beginner's Luck," said Tyler.

"Love Is Your Name" is available at all digital retailers where music is sold.
