Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry hung out with President Obama on Air Force One in Orlando, FL and sang “Walk This Way” with the President in an impromptu meeting.
The guys landed in Florida after a five week tour of Mexico and South America when they saw the President’s aircraft at the Orlando International Airport. Before they knew it, Aerosmith was invited to play at the White House with Tyler saying of Obama, "He's something else."
Perry is the next recipient of the prestigious Les Paul Award for creative excellence, reports Billboard.
The veteran guitarist will be presented with the honour at the 32nd annual NAMM TEC Awards, which take place January 21st as part of the 2017 NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA.
The award, which carries the name of the definitive guitar hero, audio pioneer and inventor Les Paul, who passed away in August 2009, is bequeathed to individuals that have “set the highest standards of excellence in the creative application of recording technology”.
“Anytime my name is mentioned in the same sentence as Les Paul, it’s a huge honour,” says Perry in a statement. “Getting an award bearing his name is the icing on the cake."
