AEROSMITH - Steven Tyler, Joe Perry Win First-Ever Emmy Being "Boston Strong"

For the first time in their illustrious career, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry can add an Emmy to the long list of awards and accolades they've received. Tyler and Perry were among the producers honored by the Sports Emmys last week (May 5th) for their work on 2014's E:60 Dream On: Stories of Boston's Strongest, which was directed by Aerosmith associate Casey Tebo.
E:60 won Sports Emmys for Open/Tease and Edited Sports Special for Dream On: Stories of Boston's Strongest featuring a stirring performance by Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of their iconic anthem "Dream On" with the Southern California Children's Chorus, which was recorded last April in Los Angeles. "Dream On (Boston Strong 2014)" was released as a single via iTunes, the day after the band surprised the audience at The Forum, in Inglewood, CA (July 30, 2014) by bringing the Southern California Children's Chorus onstage to perform the song.
For the special, Tyler and Perry joined E:60 in paying tribute to Boston, the birthplace of the band, with a moving rendition of "Dream On" an anthem of hope, remembering the victims while honoring the survivors of the Boston Marathon bombings. The award was one of 11 ESPN won that night--tying the network's highest total ever--at the annual event held for the 36th year by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
"Dream On (Boston Strong 2014)" debuted Tuesday, April 15 on E:60 Presents Dream On: Stories From Boston's Strongest, a special hour dedicated to the one-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings. The show presented five stories of survivors, narrated by celebrity voices of Boston At 2:49 PM, on April 15, 2013, as scores of spectators cheered on the Boston Marathon runners approaching the finish line, two hand-made bombs exploded. In a split second, the lives of hundreds of people were forever changed. E:60 presented a special program remembering the lives lost and paying tribute to those who survived, their journeys of perseverance, courage, strength and love in the past twelve months.
