April 19, 2016, 8 years ago
Amon Amarth is inviting fans around the globe to be a part of their forthcoming video for "Raise Your Horns”. The video will include live clips of the band performing in multiple countries, plus you - the fans - raising your horns to Amon Amarth.
“Do you have a wall plastered with Amon Amarth and other metal posters? Did you just attend a live show or are going to one soon? Send us clips of you and your friends raising your horns to the band for a chance to be included in the video.”
Clips should be e-mailed to raiseyourhornsvideo@gmail.com. YouTube links should include #RaiseYourHorns in the title. Submissions are requested to be sent in by May 27th, 2016. The video is tentatively scheduled for a June release.
In this interview from EMP Rockinvasion, Amon Amarth’s Johan Hegg discusses the band’s new album, Jomsviking, working with Doro Pesch, the band’s drummer situation and more:
Amon Amarth have been steadily gathering strength and fans over the years, culminating with the recent performance of the new album Jomsviking on global sales charts.
The new album’s epic original story is set in the world of the Jomsvikings, the pagan order of mercenary Vikings from the 10th & 11th Centuries.
Johan Hegg explains, "The Jomsvikings were a shadowy and legendary sect of Viking mercenaries, as shrouded in myth now as they were when they fought across Europe and the Middle East. Ruthless and deadly warriors who fought for the highest bidder, their code was simple: Show no fear. Never retreat. Defend your brothers, and when called upon, avenge their deaths. I felt we were finally ready to use their story as the jumping off point for an Amon Amarth album. The Jomsvikings and their world is the background for the story of a young man that is in love with a girl but unfortunately she's being married off. He accidentally kills a man when this happens and he has to flee - but he swears to have revenge and win her back. He can't let go of the past. He feels that he's been wronged and his life has been destroyed. The way the story evolves is not a happy story."
