ANTHRAX Is Coming: Recording New Song Featured On Next Game Of Thrones Mixtape

It was recently revealed that Anthrax are recording a song for the next Game Of Thrones Mixtape. According to Winter Is Coming, a site dedicated to the hit TV series, HBO commissioned a musical venture titled Catch the Throne: Mixtape for Season 4 of Game Of Thrones. On top of that, the band is recording drums in the King's Landing throne room from the hit TV series.

Guitarist Scott Ian opened up on some details: “I asked (executive producer) Dan Weiss, 'Hey man, what would be the possibility of us recording the drums for the next album in the throne room?' Like we bring a mobile studio and set up the drums, mic everything and record in here. He says, 'Oh my God, that would be the sickest thing ever. We know the guys that can make that possible.'"

“All of you out there who watch Game Of Thrones, much like me, probably think it's a very metal TV show. And just know: the reason for that is that one of the creators is a huge metalhead.”

Anthrax celebrated their sixth Grammy nomination by toasting it with a glass of their own brand of bourbon, Indians.

Anthrax has aligned with Jefferson's Bourbon, the Kentucky-based company that produces special, limited edition "small batch" whiskeys by blending a variety of aged bourbons and rye whiskeys. Anthrax's Indians, a single barrel bourbon, was personally chosen by the band and will taste like no other due to its particular blend and the barrel it was aged in.

"We've been wanting to come up with a special item like this, something that was unusual, one-of-a-kind, not a t-shirt or hoodie or poster," said the band's Frank Bello "and Indians was perfect."

Anthrax's Indians bourbon is now available exclusively through Atlantic City Bottle Company.  Indians will be priced at $75 per bottle (in-store pick up) and $100 (shipped to an address) and will come with a signed piece of the stave of the barrel that the bourbon was aged in.

Anthrax lifted their Indians-filled shot glasses last Friday when they found out that "Neon Knights". the band's cover of the Black Sabbath song (from Sabbath's 1980 release, Heaven and Hell) recorded for the Ronnie James Dio - This is Your Life tribute album got the nod in the Grammy Awards "Best Metal Performance" category.

"It's been an honor everytime we've been nominated," said Anthrax's Benante, "but this one is particularly special.  To have been asked to contribute "Neon Knights" to Ronnie's tribute album was an honor on its own; to have it nominated for a Grammy is just beyond the best."

Anthrax, along with producer Jay Ruston, is currently in a Los Angeles studio recording the follow-up to their 2011 Grammy-nominated album, Worship Music.

The band - Charlie Benante/drums, Frank Bello/bass, Joey Belladonna/vocals, Scott Ian/guitars and Jon Donais/guitars - have been writing and demo'ing new songs over the past few months and plans to record well into January.

The as-yet-untitled album, the band's eleventh full studio collection, is set for a 2015 release (Megaforce Records). This video clip was filmed the first day of recording:

Stay tuned for updates.
