ANTHRAX’s Joey Belladonna Looks Back On Sound Of White Noise – “I Would Have Done Something Really Good With That Record”; Interview Streaming

Anthrax vocalist Joey Belladonna joins Mitch for episode 210 of One On One With Mitch Lafon.

In the episode, Belladonna discusses the band's great new album For All Kings, his voice, his love for Journey, Anthrax tour plans for this year and much more.

On recording his vocals on For All Kings (time 3:20) - "Had a good time doing it with less pressure. It's just a good vibe I can actually execute a few things that I may never have even got on the table or even had a chance to try with everybody going, 'No No No... Don't do that or that sucks. That's wrong or you're late or you're early...' All the stuff that I used to get beat up on. By the time I got done I didn't even know if I was happy doing what I was doing. It's just much easier. It's much more pleasant now and more fun just as well."

Where did the past pressures come from (4:08): "I joined a band. It's obvious that it wasn't my band. When I got in there, I think that me being a classic rocker... They just didn't want anybody to do anything without having a hand on it. Every moment. Every turn."

Being shown the door after the Persistence Of Time album (10:38): "It was a quick switch and bait."

"I was caught off guard. It was one phone call from management, 'They wanna part ways.' Was as if you were left off the side of the road before you got to your next destination and had actually been the one that helped change the tires to get to that destination."

Sound Of White Noise (first Anthrax album with Armored Saint singer John Bush) (11:25): "I can't imagine what we could have done, I mean Sound Of White Noise if I sang on that record, forget if you even heard it. It would have been really good. I would have done something really quite good with that record. It wouldn't have changed any mode that we were in. I just think somehow somebody had the bright idea to get somebody else in there. They got fed up with something. I have no idea and they can blame all they want, but I was fine. I was doing good with that stuff."
