ANVIL Frontman Lips - "PAUL McCARTNEY Knew Who We Were; I Almost Passed Out"

Craig Mathieson at The Sydney Morning Herald recently spoke with Anvil frontman Steve "Lips" Kudlow, who discussed the band's comeback in the wake of their documentary, Anvil! The Story Of Anvil.

Lips: "We were at the People's Choice Awards with the film and I could see Paul McCartney sitting at a table 20 feet away. We lost our category to (dolphin documentary) The Cove and when we got up to go to talk to him, Quentin Tarantino grabs my jacket and starts yelling, 'Those bastards, they gave the prize to some dolphins!'"

"I go, 'Listen, Quentin, it's great to meet you, but I want to speak to Paul McCartney.' So we rush up to Paul McCartney, and he's surrounded by his people, but he takes a look at Robb and I and goes, 'Oh my God, it's the Anvil boys. Are we rockin' tonight?' Paul McCartney knew who we were. I almost passed out."

Anvil has released a new video for the song "Eat Your Words" , directed by Rene U Valdes, from their latest album, Hope In Hell.

Hope In Hell was released last year in Germany and Europe through SPV / Steamhammer in four different formats: as a limited-edition Digipak including two bonus tracks, as a jewel case CD, double gatefold colored vinyl including two bonus tracks and as download.

Anvil drum legend Robb Reiner's first major gallery show of his paintings is being held from September 25th to October 6th at the BBAM Gallery in Montreal (3255 Rue St. Jacques).

A statement from the gallery reads: “Robb has previously turned down all gallery offers except for BBAM! This is a limited engagement and a rare opportunity to see his work up close and off the screen. Anvil embarks on a major Japanese tour immediately following this show.”
