ASSASSIN - Debut Album To Be Reissued
October 1, 2009, 15 years ago
Legendary San Diego hard rock band ASSASSIN finally will have their debut album released on October 6th.
The album was recorded in 1984 with the support of former San Diego Padres pitcher, the late Eric Show, and local D.J. Pat Martin from 101.5 KGB FM. After the band successfully released a 7" single themselves featuring the songs, 'Treason', and, 'All Your Love', the album was shopped around. Despite a few offers, the band's management decided to wait and hold out for a better deal. Lead singer Pete Papps left the band in 1986 and the band broke up later that year. But the album they recorded was never forgotten.
And now it will finally be released on CD on October 6th by Deep Shag Records. The album, featuring the nine original studio recordings, plus five live bonus tracks, is a great slice of mid '80's hard rock and melodic heavy metal. Assassin was San Diego's leading hard rock or heavy metal band from 1984 to 1986, and they had a huge local following.
The band's line-up on the studio tracks includes Pete Papps, lead vocals; Thom Beebe, guitar; Vinnie Cavarra, guitar; John Osmon, bass; and Leroy Vega, drums. The live tracks feature drummer Dave Bundy.
