Author David De Sola will be holding a Seattle signing for his new book, Alice in Chains: The Untold Story on Wednesday, August 5th at 6 p.m. at the Seattle University Book Store.

When asked by KiroTV.com what role Alice In Chains had in the Seattle grunge scene De Sola responded: "Alice in Chains wasn't the first grunge band to form or get signed – those distinctions go to Soundgarden and Mother Love Bone – but they were the first to get heavy rotation on MTV (in the spring and summer of 1991), and they were the first to get a gold record from the RIAA for selling more than half a million albums. Alice in Chains opened the door, but Nirvana and Pearl Jam blew it wide open."

Alice In Chains were one of the loudest voices out of Seattle, iconic pioneers who mixed grunge and metal in ways that continue to influence today's artists. Theirs is a story of hard work, self-destruction, rising from the ashes and carrying on a lasting legacy.

From their anonymous struggles to topping the charts with hits like "Would?" "Man in the Box" and "Rooster," Alice in Chains reveals the members of the band, not as caricatures of rock stars but as brilliant, nuanced and flawed human beings, whose years of hard work led to seemingly overnight success that changed the music scene forever.
