October 20, 2015, 9 years ago
Black Sabbath will return to Donington to headline the Saturday night of Download Festival 2016 (#DL2016). Their appearance at Download Festival will form part of their worldwide The End tour, as they sign off their 50-year career as one of the greatest metal bands in the history of time.
Speaking of the gig, Ozzy Osbourne states: “Download is my absolute favourite summer festival. It’s always like coming home. See you all there!”
Meanwhile, Download Festival booker Andy Copping says: “What can I say about Black Sabbath? They are probably the most influential band in rock music and have inspired many, many artists to start a band. The fact they are still as popular after all these years shows how much they are respected. The fact that this is Black Sabbath’s final tour makes it even more exciting.”
Black Sabbath will join heavy metal legends Iron Maiden at #DL2016, who were recently announced as the Sunday headliner. Just one more headliner to go, then. Next announcement tomorrow morning.
#DL2016 takes place at Donington Park across the weekend of June 10th - 12th, 2016. Weekend, day and RIP tickets go on general sale this Friday at 9 AM.

It's the beginning of The End. It started nearly five decades ago with a crack of thunder, a distant bell ringing and then that monstrous riff that shook the earth. The heaviest rock sound ever heard. In that moment heavy metal was born, created by a young band from Birmingham, England barely out of their teens.
Now it ends, the final tour by the greatest metal band of all time, Black Sabbath. Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler close the final chapter in the final volume of the incredible Black Sabbath story. A video announcement can be found below.
Black Sabbath’s farewell tour, The End, begins on January 20th, 2016 and it promises to surpass all previous tours with their most mesmerizing production ever. When this tour concludes, it will truly be The End, The End of one of the most legendary bands in rock 'n roll history... Black Sabbath.
