Black Sabbath won the Lifetime Achievement award at this year's Ivor Novello Awards, held at London, England’s Grosvenor House this afternoon (Thursday, May 21st) to honour achievements in songwriting and composing.
Guitarist Tony Iommi picked up the trophy, along with estranged drummer Bill Ward and bassist Geezer Butler, and confirmed the heavy metal band would embark on their "final tour" next year.
The Ivor Novello Awards, named after the Cardiff-born entertainer Ivor Novello, have been presented annually in London by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA) since 1955.
