BLACK STONE CHERRY Release “In Our Dreams” Music Video
February 3, 2016, 8 years ago
Black Stone Cherry's fifth studio album, Kentucky, will hit stores on April 1st via Mascot Label Group. A new music video for the song, “In Our Dreams”, is streaming below. The video is set in a post-apocalyptic underwater world, Hydros, ruled by a nefarious leader. While the band play, the tale unfolds of two sisters separated in this society by a class structure. They're eventually reunited when a revolt topples the system and they escape to a new life above water.
The band tell us, "We're so proud of this video as visually it's a direction we really haven't taken before. We wanted a powerful performance with a very unique narrative and we believe we've achieved it! We hope y'all enjoy!"
Drummer John Fred Young elaborates, saying, "We wanted the video for “In Our Dreams to bring the songs lyrics to life. Director Kyle Cogan helped us to forge new ground, visually. His unique sci-fi storyline of two sisters, tragically separated into two social classes in an oppressed underwater civilization run by an evil leader, accompanied the lyrics so well, and metaphorically, the story feels like it relates to current world circumstances."
Director Kyle Cogan states, "From concept to completion, it was a total collaboration across many disciplines. We worked with the band to create a striking narrative that would require a heavily stylized world. It was great to see the vision come alive practically on set, and through visual effects in post production."
Frontman/guitarist Chris Robertson recently commented, "We are beyond excited to bring Kentucky to you! Since the release of our debut, we have wanted to go back to the studio where it all began and it finally happened! The original studio owner/engineer, all of the great equipment and Black Stone Cherry have been reunited for what I feel has been the most unique album we've ever made. We took it back to where it started and something magical happened! These new songs are the heart and soul of who we were in 2006 and who we've become. There is something very special about these songs and I cannot wait for y'all to feel them!"
Guitarist Ben Wells elaborates, "This album is by far the heaviest, most aggressive album we've ever made. We went in focused, but not overly prepared. We wanted to leave room for creativity to grow in the studio and man did it happen! Lyrically we went to places that we think people will relate to, because it's all stuff that we have lived, or are living. This is the first album we've been able to fully self-produce and the result is an album jam-packed with 'in your face' riffs, huge drums, and bass that will shake your teeth."

"The Way Of The Future”:
BraveWords scribe Aaron Small recently interviewed Black Stone Cherry guitarist Ben Wells about his band's forthcoming album Kentucky; an excerpt follows:
“We wrote all the way up until recording; on the road and at home. Some songs we revisited, the first single that’s going to come out next year is a song that we wrote actually in 2010. Basically, the songs are 90% done once we get in the studio. We like to keep that 10% just to be creative and make up stuff as you go along.”
