It was announced back in August that Canada's The Metal Voice will be producing a multi-part tour Documentary on Blaze Bayley - Iron Maiden singer 1994 to 1999 - centering on his return from September 21st to 24th for an Eastern Canadian mini tour. Part 2 of the multi-part series is now streaming below.
In Part 2 Blaze Bayley is followed on his journey from the UK to Montreal, Quebec where he rehearses with the local Canadian touring band, shops at Walmart for some needed items for the tour and does an in-depth interview on his story growing up in Birmingham. Guests in the documentary include Canadian Author Martin Popoff and former Anthrax singer Neil Turbin.
Excerpts from the documentary:
“When I was at school I tried to join the choir but they kicked me out for being too loud and I kind of gave up my aspirations of being a singer then. At school I didn’t do very well cause I have a thing called Dyslexia, which now people seem to understand, it’s a kind of simple brain dysfunction and it means you can’t spell properly and you don’t remember things in the same way as a regular person. And when I was at school it was very controversial and people thought of it as laziness most teachers didn’t understand dyslexia. So instead of getting extra help in learning how to spell and writing they just used to keep me in at play time because they thought I was lazy so I was punished for having Dyslexia. And really that kind of set the whole theme of being at school because I was never was able to catch up. I just lied my way through school to get away with not doing homework. And it wasn’t until the last two years of school where they took me to a psychologist, a professional psychologist where they did an accurate diagnosis but of course by then it was too late so I left school really without a proper education. “
Blaze was born 29th May 1963 in Birmingham, England. Having started his professional music career in Wolfsbane in 1984, his career elevated to global heights when he joined Iron Maiden with whom he released two albums and toured worldwide between 1994and 1999.
After leaving Iron Maiden, Blaze embarked on a solo career, during which he has released eight albums including 'Infinite Entanglement' in 2016 and has continued to tour worldwide, collaborating with a host of talented artists and bands.
