CBGB Lounge And Bar Opens At Newark Airport
January 4, 2016, 8 years ago
CBGB was a legendary New York City music club opened in 1973 in Manhattan's East Village. The letters CBGB stood for country, bluegrass, and blues, yet CBGB soon became a notorious punk rock venue for bands such as The Ramones, Patti Smith, and Blondie.
Unfortunately in 2006, the club went out of business. But now a CBGB themed restaurant has opened inside Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. Jen Carlson of Gothamist reports, "the al fresco dining area features iPads for ordering, a flatscreen TV showing sports, a dark faux-brick facade, and a pillar with wallpaper depicting graffiti tags on it."
