CHRIS CAFFERY - "Most Of The Material Is Written For My New Record"
July 30, 2014, 10 years ago
Guitarist/vocalist Chris Caffery (Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Savatage) has checked in with the following update:
"Most of the material is written for my new record. Time is flying by! I was hoping to have it finished to release before the next TSO tour. As we approach August in a couple days, I may just be able to have a couple songs finished or an EP. During my 'off' time this year I took on a lot of other performances that have definitely chewed into the time I needed to finish 10 songs! Once again I'm doing a lot of the work myself so my personal work load for ten tunes is a lot more than just ten guitar tracks!"Caffery recently celebrated a milestone; the 20th Anniversary of the Doctor Butcher sellf-titled debut:
"It has been 20 years since Jon Oliva and I released the Doctor Butcher CD! Crazy how time flies. We were both out of Savatage at the time and this record really helped both of us to release some musical and personal frustrations! This particular song we wrote about a good friend of ours that was battling the AIDS virus at the time. I played all of the guitars on this record, rhythm and lead in 3 days! This song I used my Black Fender Strat for the solo… it has a really cool tone. I was also very fond of the 'Roto-Vibe' pedal at the time. Jim Morris engineered this at the legendary Morrissound Studios in Tampa. Criss Oliva had just passed away less than a year before we recorded this CD so there is a lot of emotion in all of our performances as well as a special spirit in the studio."
