In a new interview with WZOR's Cutter on July 15th prior to Slipknot's performance at the Rock USA festival at Ford Festival Park in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, frontman Corey Taylor discussed his recent neck surgery, and his collaboration with Zakk Wylde on the track "Sleeping Dogs", taken from the guitarist's Book Of Shadows II. On "Sleeping Dogs": "It's something that we've been threatening to do for a long time, so when he hit me up, he was just, like, 'I've got this tune. I think it'd really be great  to be a part of it.' And I was, like, 'Absolutely' because I've always wanted to do something with him. I love his guitar playing. I love the fact that he's got one foot in the greasy heavy metal and also another foot in his love for just that southern rock roots."

Slipknot were forced to delay their co-headlining summer tour with Marilyn Manson due to Taylor undergoing and “unplanned spinal surgery.”

“Regretfully, I’m sending this to our fans to inform you that we will be postponing the first couple of weeks of our upcoming U.S tour,” he wrote on Facebook. “Unfortunately, I had to undergo an unplanned spinal surgery. I am recovering nicely, and all went well! I need a little recovery time before hitting the stage. We will start the summer tour in Nashville on 6/28 and continue as previously scheduled. An update on the rescheduled dates will be available in the next few days. I hope you all understand and thanks for always having my back! Thank you, Corey.”

Taylor has since checked in via Twitter with the following update on his condition:

 

 

Neck Update: follow-up appt w/ Dr was great! For now, no headbanging, jumping. But I'll sing my ass off. Back to 90% 4-6 months, 100%/year.
