D.M.K. formed in late 2014. The four members all hail from three different states (Massachusetts, Maryland & New York) Scotty, Ted, Brian and Percy met each other out on the road when their previous bands had shared bills. A friendship was formed among the four and D.M.K. was born soon after.
On March 18th, 2015 the group released their debut EP entitled 3. The EP’s first single, "The Fire That Won't Go Out”, has a bit of a back story to it. Scotty Dunbar states: “As some people may or may not be aware, I am a survivor of The Station Night Club Fire, which occurred on February 20th, 2003. I was in attendance that night along with my two buddies Derek Gray and Eugene “Gino” Avilez to see the band Great White. My two friends perished in the fire along with 98 other innocent lives. I wrote the lyrics in regards to my recovery, acceptance and rising above such a tragic situation as the fire. So many of us go through dark valleys in life, and I think that most people will be able to relate to the lyrics of this particular song."
In March of 2015, “The Fire That Won't Go Out” charted at #5 on Amazon's Top 100 Hot New Releases Chart in the category: Hard Rock & Metal #38 on Amazon's Top 100 Best Sellers In Songs Chart in the category: Hard Rock & Metal.
