DEEP PURPLE: A Band Down Under - 1999 “On The Road” Documentary Video Streaming

Initially released on the Total Abandon DVD, this Deep Purple tour documentary looks at life on the road with the band and features some rare, behind the scenes of Deep Purple as you have never seen them before.

It was recently reported that Deep Purple will only perform with the current lineup – vocalist Ian Gillan, bassist Roger Glover, drummer Ian Paice, guitarist Steve Morse, and keyboardist Don Airey - at this year’s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony.

Ian Gillan has confirmed there will be no reunion with guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and has released a new statement defending the band’s decision.

“We were faced with a hard decision when we heard about the Hall Of Fame inductions. It was a surprise to us that Steve Morse and Don Airey did not qualify as inductees. Ian Gillan, Ian Paice and Roger Glover decided upon the offer of a compromise which has been agreed with the Hall Of Fame and enables us to turn up on the night. Deep Purple inductees will accept the awards and then the living breathing Deep Purple will perform.

"It should be stressed that there is no slight intended nor any desire to upset anyone regarding this decision; it is purely a mark of respect to Steve and Don. I spoke with David Coverdale last week and he expressed complete understanding of the way it was being handled. Thanks, David. You're a gent.

"Outside of this event, there are no circumstances under which a 'reunion' could or would take place. So, let's all get up there, shake hands, smile for the cameras and get it done with dignity and respect for all the existing and past members of a very special family."

Deep Purple have been eligible for more than 20 years. The complete list of current and former members who are being inducted includes Ritchie Blackmore, David Coverdale, Rod Evans, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Glenn Hughes, Ian Paice and the late Jon Lord.

Metallica’s Lars Ulrich has been added as guest at the 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in New York. Ulrich will most likely induct Deep Purple, as both he and James Hetfield have been pushing for the influential hard rock band to be inducted for years.

Long overdue inductees Cheap Trick, Chicago, and Steve Miller, along with hip-hop act N.W.A are also part of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame class of 2016. The five acts, along with other honorees to be announced later, will be part of the 31st annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on April 8th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. HBO will film the ceremony for broadcast later in the spring. Tickets will go on sale to the public during February, with Rock Hall members receiving early access to a limited number of tickets.
