DEEP PURPLE, YES, CHICAGO, CHEAP TRICK Fans Produce Record Numbers For 2016 Rock Hall Fan Vote

Fans of Chicago, YES, Deep Purple, Cheap Trick, Steve Miller and The Cars have been waiting a long time for their favourite bands to make it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, reports Troy L. Smith for Cleveland.com.
“If you don't believe me, just look at the annual Fan Vote. The inclusion of those aforementioned acts has led to a record number of votes, with two months left to go.”
The nominees for the Class of 2016 were announced last week. And, as of early Tuesday morning, more than 145 million votes had been cast in the Fan Vote via Rolling Stone, USA Today, The Huffington Post and the RockHall's respective websites.
By comparison, just fewer than 60 million votes were cast during the entire two-month window last year. Stevie Ray Vaughan won last year's fan vote with just over 18 million (31 percent). Five of this year's acts have more than that already, with the Rock Hall expected to announce the Class of 2016 in early December.
The inclusion of those big name 1970s acts is clearly a major factor in the vote totals (along with Huffington Post's participation). The top-five vote getters are currently Chicago, YES, Steve Miller, Deep Purple and The Cars.
