DEF LEPPARD - Winnipeg Mayor Brian Bowman Pays Tribute To Band At City Council

With Def Leppard playing Winnipeg, Manitoba’s MTS Centre last night, Winnipeg’s hair-metal loving mayor decided to do a special tribute to the band at city council.

According to the Winnipeg Free Press, Mayor Brian Bowman opened the meeting with a rousing speech, quoting several song titles from the band’s repertoire.

"I am going to do my opening statements on a lighter note," he told council, before apologizing for his love of 80s rock music, which inspired the speech.

"I know at the floor of council, at times there can be some Hysteria as we make Promises that can be accused of Fooling people, Bringing On The Heartbreak. But it does not matter what kind of political Animal you may be, each councillor has the opportunity to propel your ideas for Winnipeg, to Rocket your ambition for your community. So we can say we Rock the Ages and we take a Photograph of our growing city," he said, before welcoming the band to Winnipeg
