DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT Frontman On Being Recognized By Juno Awards - "We Sort Of Consider Ourselves Canadian Ambassadors, But In Our Hearts We're Truly Just A Pack Of Canuckleheads"

The 2015 Juno Awards (the Canadian equivalent of America's Grammy Awards) took place on March 14th in Hamilton, Ontario at FirstOntario Centre. The Metal/Hard Music Album Of The Year nominees were as follows:
Kataklysm - Waiting For The End To Come
Devin Townsend Project - Z²
Skull Fist - Chasing The Dream
Shooting Guns - Brotherhood Of The Ram
Single Mothers - Negative Qualities
The Devin Townsend Project took home the Juno this year. Currently on the road with DTP in Europe, Townsend released an initial "thank you" but has since issued a longer statement:
"Well hey, won the Juno! It's a great honour for us as Canadians to be invited to the party after all these years. We sort of consider ourselves ambassadors in some ways as we spend so much time in other parts of the world, but in our hearts we're truly just a pack of Canuckleheads.I'd like to thank Andy, Jasper and Northern Management, Thomas, Jessica and all at Inside Out and Century Media. Erik and E1, as well as the multitude of people involved in the production, visuals and art for Z2. It was a very difficult project with many facets. Puppets, acting, TV, radio, comics etc. and the fact it has been recognized is really nice.
Finally, I'd like to thank the band, crew, universal choir and YOU for allowing these visions to be articulated. Thank you."
On March 5th the Devin Townsend Project kicked off their European headline tour at La Cigale in Paris, France. Fan-filmed video, complete with jazz hands during "Lucky Animals", can be viewed below:
