Canadian vocalist/guitarist/producer Devin Townsend has checked in with the following update:
 
"Here's a (relatively) simple acoustic rig I put together this week. Usually use axe fx for this, but for smaller things, this works well. Love playing pretty stuff. After transcendence and the symphony, I'll focus on some meditational music."

Townsend, the mastermind behind acts Strapping Young Lad, Ocean Machine and Punky Brüster, recently posted the following message:

"Squid Squiderson, bassist on Punky Brüster and Ocean Machine, could use a little help. He's been battling MS (Multiple Sclerosis) for a while now and things are getting a little tough. Please, help if you can, even if it is just sharing this post and link..."

A benefit show for Squiderson took place on February 17th in Vancouver, BC at The Fox Cabaret Townsend performed an acoustic set on the night, fan filmed video is available below.

Townsend will attend a new convention-type event called HeavyCon in London, England for three days starting on Friday, September 30th. Townsend will be speaking in the main auditorium on the Friday, conducting a guitar master-class on the Saturday, and he will unveil some new Devin Townsend Project music together on the Sunday. He will also be signing autographs and meeting fans all throughout the weekend.

Townsend comments: "In a year mainly comprised of writing and preparation for my next few projects, I'm proud to announce my participation at HeavyCon! It will be one of the few trips to the UK this year, so I look forward to meeting with you all there!"
