Australian heavy metal act, Elm Street, will release their new album, Knock ‘Em Out… With A Metal Fist, on June 25th via Massacre Records. The band have revealed the artwork of the album, created by the legendary Ken Kelly, who also created artwork for KISS and Manowar, among others.
Vocalist Ben Batres comments: "We have had the privilege of working with some of the world's best and Ken Kelly is right at the top of the list when it comes to art! It is very surreal that the band now joins a client list that includes KISS, Manowar, Rainbow and Ace Frehley. The concept of overcoming adversity is a theme that runs throughout the whole album. Not just in one aspect of life but in many that we have gone through ourselves, and I'm sure that many will relate to. Ken created a piece which visually relates to each song from the new album and at the same time reflects the style you expect to hear when you see an album cover like this. Merging both the art and sound will hopefully deliver a classic album to both old and new fans!"
Ken Kelly himself also said something about the collaboration with Elm Street: "I was very proud to be offered the opportunity to tackle the assignment of painting Elm Street's new album cover, Knock 'Em Out... With A Metal Fist. I knew this group is a tremendous force in the heavy metal industry, and of course I wanted to play a role in creating their cover art if I could. The idea for the album at first seemed relatively simple; a metal fist firing at you; but soon it became more complex because we wanted and needed it to have a NOW look! Lucky for me, the band was there to help me create what you see before you! Knowing that the music will KILL! I feel confident that I've done my best to complete my part of what the band set out to do, create a world-beater album! I enjoyed the challenge and hopefully our paths will cross again."
Ermin Hamidovic recorded, mixed and mastered the upcoming album at Systematic Productions in Melbourne, Australia. Stay tuned for updates.
