ENDAST / EXES FOR EYES Vocalist Big James Arsenian - "The Only Thing That Helped Me Stop The Cycle Of Abuse From Bullies Was Metal"
January 22, 2015, 9 years ago
Vocalist Big James Arsenian (Endast, Exes For Eyes) has checked in with the following:
"Just watched the documentary Bully on Netflix... it was hard to watch. I was bullied relentlessly through school. My parents did their best to help but I think, like most parents, they felt powerless to truly make a difference.I can honestly say the only thing that helped me stop the cycle of abuse from bullies was metal. I started to listen to metal, started to identify with a community, started to feel stronger and more confident and eventually was motivated to stand up for myself.
To this day I am bullied. You don't have to try hard to find it; YouTube comments or the comments section of any press we get. I just deal with it differently. I'd like to say it doesn't affect me anymore, but it stings a bit when it comes 'en masse' like it has for the platinum project. I mean, I definitely handle it better than I did when I was a kid but I'm not invincible.
If you or someone you know is being bullied, please don't hesitate to talk to me about it. Sometimes it helps just to get it out there a bit and talk to someone about it."
