Norway's Metal Express Radio has issued the following update:
"Ironically, a week or so ago guitarist John Sykes announced he was leaving the modern day incarnation of THIN LIZZY which coincidentally (?) signified the end of the current Thin Lizzy group. Now here we are celebrating his birthday! We'll play an hour's worth of John Sykes material from his TYGERS OF PAN TANG years through his solo years!Tune in Thursday, July 30th at 15:00 CET (9:00am EST) and 21:00 CET (3:00pm EST) here to catch our playlist choices."
As reported on July 1st, due to Sykes and Thin Lizzy parting ways, all shows confirmed for 2009 have been cancelled or postponed. Sykes has just issued the following statement:
"First, I would like to thank the fans for all the support over the years and say it has been truly a privilege and an honor to sing and play Phillip's (Lynott) great songs in Thin Lizzy. After dedicating many years to the band, I feel it's time to get back to playing my own music, and I very much look forward to touring in the near future. As always, love and respect to Phil. See you all soon."
