EXES FOR EYES Frontman Weighs In On Project To Sell A Million Albums For $1 Each - " It Is Possible To Prove This Is A Viable Option For Bands"

Exes For Eyes out of Toronto recently launched an experiment based on their new album Tongues Like Figure Eights, with the idea of selling one million copies of the record for $1.00 each:

Frontman Big James Arsenian has since checked in with the following:

"I've had a few people ask just how exactly we plan on selling a million copies of the new Exes For Eyes record in less than a month. Honestly, it's a wildly ambitious goal but definitely not impossible. Let's look at other examples of how the internet can create momentum in incredible ways...

A cute 16 year old kid from target gets his picture taken by a customer and within a week he is famous. He's on the Ellen show, he goes from 144 twitter followers to 600,000, and the story makes it to CNN.

Some guys that grew up in the suburbs not that far from where I grew up decide to make a ridiculous youtube cooking show and make just the fattest, greasiest, nastiest food they can think of. They do it for fun and it goes viral immediately because it's so outrageous. Now the host of this youtube segment is a full blown celebrity. Epic Meal Time.

Twenty-nine year old waitress Tabatha Bundesen gets a cat with a form Dwarfism that makes her look grumpy. Her brother takes a picture of the cat and posts it to Reddit. The photo gets over 1 million view in 48 hours on Imgur. People lose their collective minds over how funny\cute this cat is and in a two year time fame Bundesen earns something in the vicinity of 100 million dollars from Grumpy Cat's paid appearances, book deals, and modeling career.

So tell me again that proving the plausibility of this new business model for independent musicians is so far fetched. This model is designed to provide as much value for as little money as possible to the consumer, and designed to build an audience without having a dozen hands in the pockets of the artists. It directly links the artist with their audience, effectively removing all middle men. Artists and consumers both benefit. It IS possible to prove this is a viable option for bands. Let's prove it together."

Exes For Eyes recently posted the new song "Remember Savannah", taken from their forthcoming album Tongues Like Figure Eights. The track can be downloaded here.

Exes For Eyes released a video for the new song "Tongues Like Figure Eights" earlier this year. The song is the debut single and title track off Exes for Eyes upcoming album. Tongues Like Figure Eights is the follow up to 2011's The Amsler Grid. Like the band's previous music videos this was filmed and edited by the band.

"We wanted to keep it simple for this video. Raw and energetic but also clean looking", comments band vocalist James Arsenian. "Like all of our videos to date, we filmed and edited this ourselves. We're proud to be 100% diy because the results look pretty badass."

Exes For Eyes is a project that is quite simply based on the desire to make music with friends. Originally a studio project founded by Dave Sheldon and Big James Arsenian, it has grown into a full on national touring act with the help of drummer Aaron Spink and bass player Graham Porter. While the band itself is young, the combined musical experience between the four member is vast. The debut album The Amsler Grid having been well received, it made sense to get back in the studio with a wealth of material having been built up. The result is Tongues Like Figure Eights. The album features guests Bjorn Strid of Soilwork, Lisa Sinner of Out of The Ruins and Dominic Cifarelli of Chronicles of Israfel\Scars on Broadway. Slated for release late summer 2014.
