FEAR FACTORY - New Bassist TONY CAMPOS Makes Live Debut; Video Posted

On June 20th, new Fear Factory bassist Tony Campos (ex-Soulfly, Static X) made his live debut with the band at the Amnesia Rockfest in Montebello, Quebec. Stage-shot footage can be viewed below:

Campos issued the following statement upon joining Fear Factory back in May:

"Now that I'm back out on the road with Ministry, I can go ahead and tell you all what's going on without confusing everyone (hopefully). After I'm done with this Ministry run, I will begin playing bass for Fear Factory. This is the gig I wanted when Static-X was falling apart, and I'm really excited that I finally get to do it. My first show with them will be at Amnesia Rock Fest on June 20th, the day after I play with Ministry at Amnesia Rock Fest.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Max and Gloria Cavalera, and the whole Soulfly tribe for the incredible opportunity they gave me. It was a great three + years, and I enjoyed every minute of it. You have my eternal gratitude, love, and respect, and I hope we can work together again in the future."

Fear Factory, have released a lyric video for the new track “Soul Hacker”, from their upcoming Genexus album.

“We chose the song “Soul Hacker” for the first single cause it's heavy, catchy and has a lot of groove,” comments guitarist Dino Cazares. “You can really hear the aggression in Burt's vocals on this one, not to mention on the entire album. We think people are really going to love this song and record; it’s super varied, melodic, aggressive and heavy.”

Cazares continues: “We wanted to make it a little more interesting than your typical lyric video, so we included some live footage of the band from our last few tours and images of ourselves performing the song on TV screens. Hope you guys like it!”

Genexus was produced by vocalist Burton C. Bell and guitarist Dino Cazares, and co-produced by long-time collaborator Rhys Fulber. The album was mixed by famed British producer and engineer, Andy Sneap (Arch Enemy, Testament). Drums on Genexus were performed by Mike Heller (Malignancy).

Genexus will be released worldwide on August 7th via Nuclear Blast Entertainment, and can now be pre-ordered by itself or in various bundles at this location.

In celebration of the release, the band will be holding a special pre-listening party prior to the album’s release, on July 23rd at the Complex in Glendale (806 E. Colorado St., Glendale, CA). This event is for those 21 and over, totally FREE, and open to the general public. All attendees will be entered in a raffle for a chance to win a Fear Factory Genexus guitar, courtesy of Ibanez guitars.

"Please come and join me, Dino, Mike and Tony for a fun evening,” says vocalist Burton C. Bell. “We will have just returned from a European tour, and will be leaving the next day to tour with Coal Chamber! Have some liquid beverages and listen to the new album, as well as select songs that we will indulge you with. It will be a great evening!"

This event is first come, first serve. Attendees are advised to show up early in order to secure entry. For more details and to RSVP visit this location.

“The word genexus is a hybrid of two words; genesis and nexus,” explains vocalist Burton C. Bell. “This word describes the next transition in human evolution as man moves forward to a ‘mechanical’ state of being. Ray Kurzweil predicts that the singularity will occur around 2045. Genexus is the term for that next evolutionary process. Where humans are machines, machines are human, and the differences are oblivious to the naked eye.

“This album is a record of thought patterns, psychology and struggles of the Genexus generation. The cognitive machine has arrived, and it wants autonomy from the industry that created it. This machine struggles, like every other human has throughout the course of history. This is the story of every one of us.”

Artwork was once again handled by artist Anthony Clarkson.
