Germany's MELKOR To Release Irrlicht Album In December
November 24, 2014, 9 years ago
Melkor, the project from Nocte Obducta/Agrypnie live guitarist, Patrick Baumann, will release the new album, Irrilicht, on December 12th. Devouring depths of gloomy mood, Patrick, presents his new songs with full devotion.
Melkor was founded in the beginning of 2004, rising from the ashes of two-man project Kheled-Zarâm. Irrlicht celebrates the 10th anniversary of the project with eight carefully chosen songs that, as results of a long maturing process, get to the heart of Melkor's very essence. Not unlike the first demo, Patrick recorded and engineered this work almost entirely on his own.
Irrlicht offers a heavy and abyssic kind of passionate atmospheric black metal. Melkor has a tangible surface, offers melodies, stories, rhymes, and yet is ambivalent and permeated by metaphors. The project enters the maelstrom of the depths and stares into the abyss, gives the listener presentiments of the enigmatic workings of powers that consume all existence and at the same time make it blossom.
The purpose is not to glorify, but to preserve an unflinching view at the splendor of destruction and the temptation of poison.
No satan, no other gods inhabit the world that the music and lyrics of Melkor try to approach in a respectful and yet passionately entangled manner – a blind behemoth, a blaze in the dark, beautiful and terrifying, cold and hot, black, white and grey.
