GLENN HUGHES – “I’m A DEEP PURPLE Family Member, But There’s No Friendship Outside Of Anybody Except Me And David (Coverdale)”
August 5, 2016, 8 years ago
Glenn Hughes was part of the Deep Purple Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony earlier this year, but despite the band politics of the night, Hughes still enjoyed himself.
“I had a great time. It was a nice evening. We met some lovely people, and the Hall of Fame is not a bad place to be in,” Hughes told Billboard, whose father sadly died back in England the day of the ceremony. As far as the dynamics within Deep Purple go, he notes, “Let’s just say I think you could see the line between the Mark II and the Mark III. It’s probably the last time you’ll see all of us together at a table. It was just bloody weird. I’m not saying anything disrespectful to anybody about anything. I’m a Deep Purple family member, but there’s no friendship outside of anybody except me and David (Coverdale, former Deep Purple vocalist). It is what it is.”
Hughes recently added shows in South America to his 2016 Solo Tour after last years' triumphant first return to the region in almost 10 years. The shows will encompass three countries and seven cities, all taking place in September.
Joining Hughes, will be fellow band members Søren Andersen (guitars) and Pontus Engborg (drums). Glenn's complete tour schedule is as listed:
