GOD SEED / Former GORGOROTH Frontman GAAHL Surfaces In New LEGO Video

LegonardoDaFinci, the same guy who brought to the world LEGO Blast Vader and LEGO Cryptopsy, is back with a new stop motion animation, curiously titled Satan....

The video features God Seed/ex-Gorgoroth frontman Gaahl's (real name: Kristian Espedal) notorious appearance in the 2005 documentary film Metal: A Headbanger's Journey, directed by Sam Dunn with Scot McFadyen and Jessica Wise.

The original documentary film traces the genre's history through Filmmaker Sam Dunn's search for the source of the mythology surrounding this music maligned and cursed by some, but adored by millions worldwide who cling to it like the cross itself. He conducts an impressive array of interviews, he only loses his natural ebullience when confronted with the leading lights of the Norwegian death-metal scene, including the fragrant Gaahl (God Seed, Wardruna, Trelldom, ex-Gorgoroth), a practising Satanist.

"He was actually pretty nice to us, although he's just been in prison for torturing a guy," says McFadyen, carefully. "He told us it was self-defense. We're not quite clear on how that works."

God Seed's debut album, I Begin, featuring Gaahl, was released in October 2012 via Indie Recordings. The band came to life after Gaahl and King lost a court battle in early 2009 against guitarist Infernus (real name: Roger Tiegs) over the rights to the Gorgoroth band name.

Gaahl left God Seed in 2009 because he chose to retire from metal music, but has since rejoined the group.

Meanwhile, Gorgoroth's tenth album, Instinctus Bestialis, was released worldwide on June 8th, 2015 via Soulseller Records. The album was recorded and mixed by Tomas Asklund at Monolith Studio, produced by Infernus and Asklund and mastered at Cutting Room in Sweden by Mats Lindfors, Infernus and Asklund. Guest appearances include Chris Cannella, Fabio Sperandio and Henrik Ekeroth on lead guitar.
