Gojira recently posted video footage from the recording sessions for the band’s new album, due this year. Check out the clip below and stay tuned for updates.
BraveWords caught up with Joe Duplantier from Gojira at last year’s Heavy Montréal, which was held from August 7th through 9th at Parc Jean-Drapeau. He talked about these one-off shows and work on the anxiously-awaited follow-up to 2012's L'Enfant Sauvage.
When asked about the length of time it’s taking to create new material Duplantier says “for me it’s not that long. We have to recharge the batteries. The inspiration has to be there to create new songs. We can’t hurry that process. We have to have something to say to make songs and release an album. It’s not just a routine.”
Several Gojira titles will be released on exclusive splatter vinyl editions on January 25th via Listenable Records. The titles are available for pre-order now.
The Link - Exclusive limited edition 180 gram splatter vinyl of 500 copies in ultra transparent clear vinyl with red and orange splatter.
It has always been hard to put a tag on Gojira, one of France’s most extreme bands the country’s musical pallet has ever known. But then again, the band has never really sought out such a tag, instead letting the music do the talking, preferring introspection and intelligence over preconceived notions and preexisting tags. Ever since the 1996 formation in town of Bayonne in the south west of France, Gojira has been an ever-evolving experiment in extreme metal ultimately built upon a worldly, ever-conscious outlook with roots firmly-planted in an environmentally-conscious, new age mentality.

The album that put Gojira on the map worldwide! The From Mars To Sirius album followed four years later as the band third album (second being The Link) and became Gojira's ultimate classic which propelled them outside the national country and up to worldwide recognition . Gigantic tours with Trivium, Lamb Of God, Machine Head, Job For A Cowboy allowed the band to gain an incredible fan base in North America. The band also annihilated Europe with In Flames in late 2008 and through 2009.

The Way Of All Flesh - Exclusive limited edition 180 gram splatter double vinyl of 500 copies in ultra transparent clear vinyl with royal blue and black splatter.
After three highly successful albums, many tours on both continents and prestigious festivals, the band returned with an album awaited by many in suspense. The Way Of All Flesh for all confirm the impressive force of Gojira, its innovative sense and last but not least prove that Gojira's music has no boundaries when it comes to fanbase.
Backed up with an incredibly punchy and heavy production by Logan Mader and a live show that hasn't been equalled by any act in the current scene, The Way Of All Flesh has its place in the world as an instant classic.
The album speaks of the death of the flesh and the immortality of the soul, also of the fact that we will all leave this world at one point and that we have to accept that finality and the afterlife . Its a requiem for our planet who is dying, the frustration by the behaviour of mankind. It also expresses the certainty that a good conscious change can make a difference, just like their music, we can change things as human beings.
