GUNS N’ ROSES Frontman AXL ROSE Collaborates With Boutique Watch Brand HYT

Forbes.com contributor Elizabeth Doerr reports: “Axl Rose has led something of an impulsive life, but thus far he seems to have stuck with more or less the same watch brands - watch brands that are surprisingly low key (well, much more so than I would have expected given his famous temperament and fashion choices): Audemars Piguet and Breitling.

“The Breitling is perhaps less surprising as band mate Slash also tends to favour Breiling; I have spotted the virtuoso guitarist wearing several models by the Swiss brand on stage over the years.

“But now Rose comes out with something horological that he has the opportunity to make all his own: a collaboration with boutique watch brand HYT, which is famous for its groundbreaking use of liquid as the time-telling display.

“At recent European dates with AC/DC – the 54-year-old GN’R front man has been filling in for Brian Johnson, who had to suddenly step down from the stage due to hearing issues - Rose was spotted wearing the HYT Skull Maori model, which retails for $120,000. Check out this timepiece in The HYT Skull: Fad, Trend, Style, Or Movement? and HYT’s Skull Bad Boy: Fluid Time-Telling Evolves Thanks To Swiss Engineering.

Now HYT announces Rose as a new “friend of the brand”. The Skull Maori he is currently sporting is a loaner, which he will wear on stage (and hopefully elsewhere) until he receives his own limited edition HYT timepiece based on the Skull line, which CEO Vincent Perriard estimates as arriving in January 2017.

Guns N' Roses will commence their North American Not In This Lifetime Tour on June 23rd in Detroit, Michigan. In addition to previously announced opening acts Alice In Chains and Lenny Kravitz, GN'R has just revealed that Chris Stapleton, Billy Talent, The Cult, and Skrillex will warm up the crowd in select cities.

Guns N' Roses' are Axl Rose, Duff McKagan (bass), Slash (lead guitar), Dizzy Reed (keyboard), Richard Fortus (rhythm guitar), Frank Ferrer (drums), and Melissa Reese (keyboards).

Following the group's 1985 formation, Guns N' Roses injected unbridled, unrivalled, and unstoppable attitude into the burgeoning Los Angeles rock scene. The spirit went on to captivate the entire world with the release of their 1987 debut Appetite For Destruction - the best-selling US debut ever, moving 30 million copies globally. In 1991, the seven-time platinum Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II occupied the top two spots of the Billboard Top 200 upon release.

Over the course of the past decade, Guns N' Roses have performed sold out shows and headlined festivals worldwide following the critically acclaimed release of 2008's RIAA platinum-certified Chinese Democracy. Six studio albums later, Guns N' Roses are one of the most important and influential acts in music history and continue to set the benchmark for live performances connecting with millions of fans across the globe.
