HELIX Frontman BRIAN VOLLMER Shares Another Blast From The Past - "PETE WAY's Drummer Told Me A Funny Joke..."

Helix frontman Brian Vollmer has checked in with the following blast from the past:

"This is the hand bill from The Country Club in L.A. which we played on the Wild in the Streets Tour. The back up band was Wasted with Pete Way from U.F.O. Joe Lynn Turner came out that night to see us-I remember talking to him. Pete Way's drummer told me a funny joke outside as everyone was loading up at the end of the night: It was about a guy flying to Africa and on the plane he could hear drums as they were landing..."

"What's that sound?" he asks the flight attendant.

The flight attendant says, "When drums play-GOOD OMEN. When drums stop: BAD OMEN".

So the plane lands and the drums are now getting even louder. He asks the immigration officer, "What's that sound?"

The immigration officer replies, "When drums play: GOOD OMEN. When drums stop, BAD OMEN".

So he loads his luggage into a cab and heads for his hotel...the drums are now REALLY loud.

"What's with the drums???" he asks the cab driver.

"When drums play-GOOD OMEN. When drums stop: BAD OMEN!" he's told.

So...

For the next couple of weeks the drums are incessant. After a while he becomes so used to the sound that while he's taking a shower he's dancing around to the beat. Then, suddenly, the drums stop!

He says to himself, "WTF???" and jumps out of the shower, grabs a towel, runs out of his room to the elevator, down to the lobby and runs up to the front desk screaming, "THE DRUMS! THE DRUMS!"

The hotel clerk says calmly, "Yes, when drums play-GOOD OMEN. When drums stop: BAD OMEN!"

"But the drums have stopped! Now what? Now what???"

The hotel clerk looks the traveler in the eye and says, "BASS SOLO."

Vollmer recently checked in with The Story of Helix:

"This video was a labor of love. Originally, I was trying to write a rap intro to use in the live show and it morphed into a 7 minute story about the history of the band. I wrote it in Fort Myers during the winter and walked around for weeks memorizing it. We first used it in the live acoustic show at The Blyth Theatre in early spring of 2018.  It worked so well I decided to record it at Daryl's Dawghause Studios in St. Catherines. This took another two months.   As soon as the first mix was sent to me, I immediately started working on putting pictures and films to it. This took another month of painstakingly going through hours and hours of footage and thousands of still photographs. I actually could have made 3 or 4 different videos and not used the same pictures twice. A lot of the footage was taken on my Super 8 Sound Elmo camera that I used to carry around with me during the '70s and '80s when we were playing bars across the county. Many of those bars do not exist anymore; some of the people have passed away. I hope eveyone enjoys watching this as much as I did putting it together."
