HUNTRESS Vocalist JILL JANUS Crushes Break-Up Rumours Following "Misconstrued" Facebook Post

Huntress vocalist Jill Janus recently posted a message on the band's official Facebook page that seemed to signal the end of the band. The message has since been taken down but read as follows:

"The end. I told ya the Huntress trilogy would fulfill my purpose. I'm packing it up. Maiden, Mother, Crone. I struggle through life with bipolar, schizophrenia and dissociative identity disorders. I beat uterine cancer with a devastating hysterectomy. I will continue to create music. On my terms. Fuck the meaningless noise and trolls. My way, forever. Suck it. Done."

Guitarist Blake Meahl later went into damage control mode, offering the following:

"Our vocalist Jill Janus posted an announcement last night that she was having difficulty dealing with devastating health issues. Four months ago she had major surgery to remove cancer from her uterus. She needs time to fully recover from her hysterectomy and to continue treatment for her mental health issues. Her bouts with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and disassociative identity disorder have been particularly difficult lately and are ultimately responsible for her unfounded statement last night. We will resume touring in December when Huntress joins Black Label Society 12/26-12/31. Thank you for your kindness and understanding."

Janus has since followed up Meahl's statement:

"Back to business! Yes, I am still the singer for Huntress. I've seen some heavy shit, but so often the things I say or do are misconstrued even by those closest to me. It is the end of an era for Huntress, we completed our trilogy, writing one album a year. I look forward to writing more Huntress records, and working on new musical projects I've been developing. The best is yet to come!

Maybe I'm a mad P.R. genius. I mean, the Huntress feeds all over social media are overflowing. Positive or negative, it's power. And I'm a heavy metal singer, not a pop star, not famous nor care to be, so the sensationalism is strange to me.

What began as a tribute to the completed Huntress trilogy of albums on Napalm Records (not a resignation letter), even referencing the lyrics 'I'm packing it up' from a new song on 'Static (I Want To Wanna Wake Up)', has created a shitstorm. Listen to the new Huntress album if ya really want to get inside my head.

Thanks to the best bandmates ever for creating music with me, I love you Blake Meahl, Eli Santana, Tyler Meahl and Spencer Jacob Grau. Paul Fig and Jim Rota, you rule. Also, Jackie Kajzer -- you are the fucking best."

Stay tuned for updates.

Huntress released their third studio album, Static, via Napalm Records on September 25th. The band’s new music video for the album’s lead track, “Sorrow”, can be seen below. The video was written and directed by Phil Mucci (Disturbed, Stone Sour, High On Fire), produced by Phil Mucci and Ian Mackay of Diabolik.

Static was produced by Paul Fig (Alice In Chains, Trivium, Ghost) and Jim Rota (Fireball Ministry), engineered and mixed by Paul Fig.

Vocalist Jill Janus comments: "The evolution of Huntress bleeds into Static our third and most prolific album. It is the heaviest and catchiest record we've written. The process of writing and recording was new and exciting, at times very difficult for all involved, having to record in between relentless touring. Never have I been so honest in my approach to songwriting; I reveal life-long personal obstacles that I previously feared weaving into my lyrics. I'm so pleased to reveal the cover art for Static by my treasured art warlock Vance Kelly. Hail Heavy Metal!"
