IRON MAIDEN Frontman BRUCE DICKINSON Addresses Chinese Government's Rules For Performance At Shanghai Show - "We Don't Really Give A Shit; The Most Important Thing Is That We Are Here"

On April 26th, Iron Maiden played their second-ever show in China, which took place at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai. At the beginning of the band's set frontman Bruce Dickinson addressed the list of "Thou shalt not..." rules reportedly handed down by China's Ministry Of Culture prior to the band being given clearance to play in the country. Check out the video below.

According to a recent update from the Polish Iron Maiden fanclub SanktuariuM, the band didn't alter their setlist for The Book Of Souls world tour when they played Beijing and Shanghai, but there were some noteworthy changes:

- Dickinson refrained from swearing.
- no pyro.
- Dickinson didn't present / wave the Union Jack flag as he usually does during "The Trooper".
- the band wasn't allowed to throw items or swag (guitar picks, drum heads, wristbands) into the audience.

Dickinson spoke with The Sydney Morning Herald ahead of the Aussie leg of The Book Of Souls tour. About the band’s ongoing success that spans the globe he says that: “People often fail to understand what it is that fans are actually looking for. They look for an ongoing story, quality musicianship, respect from the band to the audience and vice-versa, and something with real longevity that they can invest time and money in. In order for a fan to have a commitment over a period of years the band has to offer up something that is far more than just temporarily cool. You have to build a mythology, so there's a whole story to be discovered with layer upon layer upon layer."

Iron Maiden play Brisbane's Entertainment Centre on May 4th, Sydney on May 6th, Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena on May 9th, Adelaide Entertainment Centre on May 12th and Perth Arena on May 14th.
