IRON MAIDEN Issue BRUCE DICKINSON Health Update - “The Situation Remains Extremely Optimistic For A Full Recovery” “Over the last few days, Bruce has been to see his specialists and following examinations, including visual, we’re delighted to update everyone that the situation remains extremely optimistic for a full recovery.” states Iron Maiden, issuing an update on frontman Bruce Dickinson, who is recovering from tongue cancer.

“We will still not have final confirmation that the cancer has been completely eradicated until Bruce can have an MRI scan in May, as previously advised in Rod’s recent message to the fans on this site, and the period to full recovery will continue for a few months yet.

“Typically Bruce’s immediate reaction to the specialists’ good news was to be as active as feasibly possible, taking in a couple of visits to the Maiden office, one to the Hybrid Air Vehicle hangar to see latest progress, and a brief trip to his local pub, much to the surprise and delight of all his friends there!

“We just wanted to share this latest piece of good news with all Maiden’s fans and, as usual, we’ll continue to keep you all updated officially on Bruce’s progress, here on the Iron Maiden website.”

Iron Maiden are to be awarded the prestigious O2 Silver Clef by Nordoff Robbins in recognition of “outstanding contribution to UK music”. Previous winners include The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, Genesis and Queen; last year’s Silver Clef winner was Jimmy Page. The very first Silver Clef was presented to The Who, by Twiggy, on June 29th, 1976. In its 40 year history the Awards have raised more than £8.5 million to fund Nordoff Robbins’ ground-breaking work with music therapy.

The announcement was made recently at the Club Café Royal in London at a party to exclusively name the first winners of this year’s awards and to celebrate an iconic 40 year milestone in Nordoff Robbins’ charitable history. Maiden will be presented with this main award of the evening at the annual star-studded O2 Silver Clef Lunch on July 3rd at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane.

The band comments, “Nordoff Robbins is an exceptional charity and their dedication to changing people’s lives through music therapy is something we all very much support. We’re extremely proud to receive the O2 Silver Clef Award and be part of the 40th anniversary event celebrating this wonderful achievement.”
