Jon Anderson has revealed that a ‘Union’ with his former YES bandmates could be on the cards in the lead up to the band’s 50th anniversary. Anderson, who fronted the iconic outfit for almost four decades until 2008, made the revelation while speaking to eonmusic at the Progressive Music Awards, which were held in London on September 1st.
The singer was among a host of names from the specialist music world that were on hand to receive gongs on the night. Taking place at the prestigious Globe Theatre, attendees included The Police’s Andy Summers, who was named the ‘Guiding Light’, producer Trevor Horn, who reached ‘The Outer Limits’ for his work with Buggles, and founding Genesis guitarist Anthony Phillips, who lifted the ‘Storm Thorgerson Grand Design’ award.
It was Anderson however who collected the nights’ biggest honour - 'Prog God' - a title which had been previously bestowed upon long time band mate Rick Wakeman. Speaking exclusively to eonmusic, the singer joked that it was about time that he had gotten a little recognition, like his former YES partner.
Said Jon: “it’s about bloody time! I said to Rick when he told me that he was going to be Prog God; “yeah, what about me, Rick, come on?!”
