September 26, 2014, 10 years ago
Winger frontman Kip Winger is currently on tour playing acoustic gigs in Europe. The day after his only gig in Norway, he took time out of his schedule to chat with Stig Nordahl for Metal Express Radio. Check out the interview here.
His acoustic tour schedule is as follows:
September
27 - The Borderine - London, England
October
3 - KulisseLageret - Horsens, Denmark
4 - Sønderborghus - Sønderborg, Denmark
Winger (the band) have premiered their new music video - the title track from their latest album, Better Days Comin’.
This new video follows an extensive 2014 worldwide tour. Winger's main stage performance at Download Festival (UK) saw bassist Liam Wilson (The Dillinger Escape Plan) join the band on stage for a live rendition of Winger fan favourite “Madalaine”.
Better Days Comin’ hit #85 on the Billboard Top 200 in My selling over 3600 copies. Better Days Comin’ marks the first time that Winger has debuted on the Billboard Top 200 since their 1993 release, Pull.
Kip Winger spoke to BraveWords recently about their Better Days Comin’: “With Pull (released in 1993), we were racking our brains and… actually it was based on a joke. At the time, the Beavis & Butthead thing was in full force and – are you familiar with skeet shooting? It was like, everyone’s waiting for us to put a record out so they can yell ‘Pull!’ Cause we were the band that sucked back then. That’s where that came from. And Karma was just like, God, we got some heavy karma. Boom – Karma’s a good name. Better Days Comin’ was the name of a song and I told it to a friend who said, ‘that’s a great name for an album!’ Yeah, good idea.” Simplicity works sometimes. “I used to outthink myself in the early days. You know, it’s not one of those concept records where everybody’s… I’m kind of over it. I just want to rock some tunes, and focus my long-form energy into a classical piece. Rock is instant!”
