LEE AARON To Perform In Ottawa, Toronto And Niagara Falls This Weekend
February 12, 2019, 2 months ago
Lee Aaron guitarist Sean Kelly has posted the following update:
"Ottawa, Toronto, and Niagara Falls...you're up next for the Diamond Baby Blues tour with the one and only Lee Aaron and her band of rock n roll brothers John Cody, Dave Reimer, and this here long haired axe slinger. See y'all soon!"
Details are as follows:
14 - Brass Monkey - Ottaway, ON
15 - Rockpile - Toronto, ON
16 - Seneca Queen Theatre - Niagara Falls, ON
Lee Aaron recently checked in with the following message:
"I decided to share this with you today in response to a reviewer from Metalheads.be who actually implied we were lip-syncing at Wacken Open-Air last summer! For the record - unlike a lot of contemporary acts we use NO backing tracks whatsoever, EVER. That's our thing. That's my thing. Keeping it real. Because that's what fans deserve. Take that, Mr. Metalhead.
BTW - the reason I shared this one folks is because, unlike a lot of audience recordings, the audio is not bad here and I'm not permitted to share Wacken.
I usually don't engage in these things because you open yourself up to all kinds of criticism when you're a performer, but this is also an affront to my amazing band, who are world class musicians."
The offending review can be found here.
Translated, it reads: "As a metal teenager in the Eighties, Lee Aaron was naturally present on the walls of my room, but for some reason I can't remember to have seen this Canadian live at work ever before. Despite a fine set full of melodic hard rock, I still don't know if I've seen them live at work, it sometimes seemed rather suspiciously like playback. Pity."
After her much lauded performances for tens of thousands of fans at Heavy Montreal (Canada), Wacken Open Air (Germany) and Skögsrojet (Sweden), Lee Aaron is capping off one of the most prolific and successful years of her career with the release of “I’m A Woman”, the third video and single from her 2018 album Diamond Baby Blues. BraveWords is proud to premiere the new video; check it out:
"It had been in the back of my mind to cover the Koko Taylor version of ‘I'm A Woman’ for ages. The lyrics are simple yet so powerful and as poignant now as they were 50 years ago. I had a long list of women I wanted to honor in the video, women who have displayed incredible bravery, ingenuity and influence, so narrowing it down to a few was hard. The women featured have impacted us in almost every facet of culture and many are great artists as well as activists. From Audrey Hepburn, a World War II survivor, film star and International Ambassador for UNICEF, to Sally Ride, the first American woman in space, to Marie Curie a two time Nobel Prize winning physicist. When J.K. Rowling isn't writing award winning books she's speaking out on issues of equality and social justice. Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Rosa Parks, Eleanor Roosevelt and Malala Yousafzai have all faced and fought for human rights and civil liberties. I find all these women just as inspiring as the female musicians who have influenced me over the years." – Lee Aaron
Diamond Baby Blues is available worldwide at all major retail outlets and digital platforms via Big Sister Records (distributed in North America by ILS/Universal and in Europe by Metalville/Rough Trade).
