Legendary ATHEIST Frontman Kelly Shaefer's Father Passes

Legendary Atheist frontman Kelly Shaefer has just revealed that his father has passed.  BraveWords sends our thoughts and condelences to his family, friends and fans. R.I.P.

Aside from working on the follow-up to 2010’s Jupiter, this past week Shaefer announced the grand opening of Kelly’s Live, an unapologetic dive, blues rock, metal bar in the spirit of CBGB’s located in the tropical paradise of Sarasota, Florida. The club officially opens on July 2nd with the 1st annual Independence Day Massacre 2016.

The lineup features Terrorizer (only 2016 US appearance), Nocturnus AD, Hellwitch, Diabolic, Paralysis, Ulcer, and Faethom.

Located 55 miles south of Tampa, Shaefer hopes Kelly's Live becomes a new "hot spot" for national, and international bands passing through Florida on tour, who rely on clubs this size.

"Currently Florida sometimes gets skipped, because its 400 miles in, and 400 miles out, with maybe two or three gigs available in all of the commuting and with Orlando/Tampa and Miami / Ft. Lauderdale being the primary stops for most touring bands, Kelly’s Live sits neatly right in between those cities, and 5 minutes from the club is the #1 beach in the whole country Siesta Key. I hope this can be an extra reason to not pass up Florida when routing tours," says Shaefer.

"I am also excited to debut at our club, our new beer the Atheist Pale Ale flowing from the taps, at the club hopefully just in time for the festival."

An amazing pale ale for non beerlievers, features the artwork from Atheist's classic debut album Piece Of Time on' EURO" Inspired 22 oz. bottles, brewed as a partnership by "Big Top" Brewing Co. / Chalmers Brewing Co.  The taste testing Debut was at Shaefer’s birthday party in September of 2015 to rave reviews from all the favorite local beer snobs.
