MARTY FRIEDMAN Looks Back On Inferno Album - "I Was Extremely Happy With It; I Thought I Could Never, Ever Top It"
August 24, 2019, 5 years ago
Former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman recently guested on Scars And Guitars and discussed the challenges he faces as an artist. He also commented on his backing band, which will be accompanying him to Australia for a string of shows at the end of the year. Check out the complete audio interview here.
On the biggest challenge he faces as an artist
Freidman: "Always doing something new without repeating myself. And that's the biggest challenge and the hardest challenge, but it's been the same exact challenge ever since I started making records, so I'm so completely used to it that it's just very natural. I'm just very happy that I'm able to continue doing that and what I'm trying to say is, it's kind of the reason why I've taken a break since my Wall Of Sound album (released in 2017). Inferno (2014) was an extreme piece of work, and I was extremely happy with it. I thought I could never, ever top it, and then I had to make another record, and over time, constraints and tours coming up, I thought I couldn't do it, but I actually did it - really busted my ass. I worked so hard on Wall of Sound and I'm so incredibly pleased with that."
