Last week on the Talk Toomey podcast, Megadeth bassist David Ellefson called in to discuss the band's new album, Dystopia, his EMP Label Group and Roast in Peace coffee. 

Joshua Toomey: "We discuss the additions of Kiko and Chris Adler to the Megadeth lineup. Dave tells a great story about a band changing moment on the Killing is my Business tour. He goes over the mission of the EMP Label Group. Dave gives us all a lesson on the best climate and growing conditions for coffee."

Ellefson stopped by the Guitar World studios to talk about and play his five favorite Megadeth bass riffs. Watch below:

As part of the college’s April celebration of jazz and American music, Bass Gear Magazine and the Terra Recording Studio are proud to welcome David Ellefson to Terra State Community College (Fremont, Ohio) on April 15th at 6:30 PM for a book-signing event. This event is free and open to the public and will be held in the Recital Hall in the Bordner Arts and Health Technologies Center.

Ellefson is one of the founding members of legendary thrash metal giants Megadeth, as well as the author of several books including My Life With Deth and Making Music Your Business...A Guide For Young Musicians. Over the last three decades, Megadeth has accumulated a vast array of gold and platinum records, 10 Grammy nominations, and a worldwide following. My Life With Deth will be available for purchase the night of the signing.  

Ellefson is known for his unique, hard-hitting style of bass playing and unwavering dedication to his musical craft. He has engraved a vast musical hallmark as a bassist, songwriter, record producer, clinician and author. Together with Megadeth, he continues recording and world concert tour activity.

Academically, Ellefson holds a bachelor's degree in business marketing and continues to lecture on a variety of music and business related topics.

Ellefson’s EMP Label Group recently re-released Green Death’s sophomore LP Manufacturing Evil, which the band celebrated at Wooly’s in Des Moines, with Ellefson even joining the band on stage in front of a packed house to crush a a crowd-pleasing “Green Death-ized” rendition of Megadeth classic “Peace Sells”.
