MEGADETH Frontman DAVE MUSTAINE - "Make All Politicians Work For Free, And Then You’ll Really See Who Loves America"

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine recently spoke with Vanyaland.com about the band's new album, Dystopia, the line-up changes that preceeded the recording, haters, and politics. Following is an excerpt from the interview.

Vanyaland.com: I’d be remiss if I didn’t ask you what you thought of what was going on in politics right now. You’ve already gone on record saying how scary of a time it is, where do you see this current situation headed — do you think someone like Donald Trump has a chance at being president?

Mustaine: "Of course — anybody does. I’m not going to go on record and say that I support anybody, because I don’t, but first off I think it’s sad that whatever choice you make that you’re gonna be ostracized and perhaps even worse. But even if I did pick somebody, it shouldn’t matter, it should matter what a person decides, they should have their own truth. I think personally, make all politicians work for free, and then you’ll really see who loves America. Because these dudes get paid for the rest of their lives; who’s not gonna say what ever the hell they have to say to get a job there. And the sad thing is there’s these beautiful young minds that are out there doing caucusing and rallying for these guys, and they don’t understand the whole delegate thing yet. I remember when I was young and dumb and I thought that it was really, really gonna be down to the popular vote, then somebody explained to me about the delegates and it was like, 'What are you talking about?'"

On April 8th, Universal Music / Tradecraft / T-Boy Records will issue Megadeth’s new album Dystopia as a limited edition vinyl picture disc featuring the album’s vivid dark and chilling artwork which takes the bands long-time mascot Vic Rattlehead to a whole new level and drops him into a bleak, futuristic dystopian universe.

The Dystopia picture disc can be ordered individually at all participating retail and online outlets or at UMv as part of a specially priced pack with other picture disc titles including Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying?, So Far, So Good…So What!, Rust In Peace, Countdown To Extinction and Youthanasia.

Featuring 11 tracks, Dystopia was released on January 22nd on CD, LP, and digitally, as well as a special Deluxe Virtual Reality CD package.

Dystopia debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, #1 album on the Hard Music and Top Rock charts. and #2 on the Top Album Sales chart. Globally, Dystopia also achieved top 10 debuts in Canada (#2), Japan (#2 international chart), Finland (#3), Mexico (#4), Czech Republic (#5), Australia (#6), New Zealand (#6), Switzerland (#7), Poland (#8) and Germany (#10), which along with Belgium, Ireland and Spain contributed to achieve Megadeth’s highest ever chart positions in their thirty year history in a total of 10 countries around the world.
