MELIAH RAGE Reissue Two Classic Albums Digitally; Tracks Streaming
June 27, 2016, 8 years ago
This week sees the official digital re-release of two killer and over-looked records by longtime veteran Boston thrashers, Meliah Rage. Check them out on Bandcamp, where they are now exclusively available.
The first, the 2016 reissue of 2004's Barely Human features a complete facelift of the record's sonic palette. This is due largely to the fact that it was completely remixed and remastered by Peter Rutcho from the original session tracks.
"I always loved this frickin' record. Joe Moody (who passed in early 2016) did an incredible job engineering and producing it in 2004 quite honestly," said Rutcho. "Credit where credit is due! But due to a few post-production snafu's it just did not have the life and drive that the original tracks had. I heard this immediately when I pulled up the sessions after converting from the original recording. I was like, 'holy shit, these tracks sound incredible, why the f^ck does the record sound so nasal and thin?' Well, now I'm confident that this record shines the way Joe originally intended it to. R.I.P. buddy! We'll miss you!"

The other, is the 2016 reissue of 2009's Masquerade which was produced by Rich Spillberg and remastered by Peter Rutcho from the original mixdowns. This record marked the rather triumphant return of Mike Munro to the lineup.
"Masquerade finds the group continuing to compose catchy riff driven songs that are heavy as all get but melodic at the same time (one reviewer who described the group as an 'aggressive onslaught of catchiness' hit the nail on the head)." - Angelic Warlord (2009). "
