METAL ALLEGIANCE Discuss Recording And Mixing Of Volume II: Power Drunk Majesty In New Album Trailer; Video
September 4, 2018, 6 years ago
Metal Allegiance have released a new video trailer for their upcoming sophomore album, Volume II - Power Drunk Majesty, out on September 7th via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. The band discuss the recording and mixing below.
Mark Menghi states, "The tracking was different this time around. We were all busy this past year tracking - Mike at his home studio and Dave in Arizona while Alex and I tracked in New York where we did the bulk of the recording."
Mike Portnoy comments, "Working at my home studio and having the guys at my place was such a great environment."
"It is easy to forget when you hear the finished product that it's really a lot of work from start to finish - all the writing, the lyrics, the vocals, the back-up vocals, guitars, harmony guitars and guest guitars," states Alex Skolnick. "The mixing was a really fun part of the process because musically everything had been done and we got to hear it back, it all sounded good. There were very few musical changes and edits that Mark Lewis wanted; you can probably count them on one hand. But the music just felt so solid."
In celebration of the release, the band will perform a special release show at The Gramercy in New York on September 6th. In true Metal Allegiance fashion, the night will include an all-star line-up that will not disappoint.
The night will feature the core four - David Ellefson, Alex Skolnick, Mark Menghi, and Mike Portnoy - as well as Mark Osegueda, Andreas Kisser, John Bush and Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth. The night will also include Trevor Strnad and Mark Tornillo who are making their Metal Allegiance debut on Volume II - Power Drunk Majesty. Direct support for the show is Venom Inc., Weapons Of Anew, Follow The Awakened and Terrorbyte.
