METALLICA Drummer LARS ULRICH On Working With LOU REED - “It Was So Cool To Feel A Connection To A Time Past”; Audio
December 8, 2016, 8 years ago
In a new interview with BBC 6 Music, Mary Anne Hobbs poses six questions to Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, as part of the BBC's celebration of the 1980s.
Asked to talk about what it was like working with Lou Reed, who Metallica collaborated with on the album Lulu, Lars states: “Lou was incredible. I mean, it’s a different era, and it was so cool to feel an connection to a time past. He had such an unorthodox way of working, he was so impulsive, and no filter whatsoever, he would just say what he was thinking.”
Find out about the drummer's views on the early days when thrash was first breaking on the West Coast, his feelings on that infamous 2014 Glastonbury show, and more. The conversation can be heard now at BBC.co.uk.
